Wong & Ouyang (HK) Ltd. (W&O) was appointed by Hong Kong Housing Authority (HKHA) as the Architectural Services Provider for the Public Rental Housing (PRH) and Subsidized Sale Flats Development (SSF) at Queen’s Hill Site 1 in July 2015.
Queen’s Hill Site 1 is located at the former Burma Lines military barrack. With a site area of approx. 13.65 ha (gross), it was developed into a mixed-use public housing development comprising of 7 PRH blocks and 6 SSF blocks. Supporting facilities include a public transport terminus (PTT), a 3 storey shopping centre with a wet market, three basement carparks, three kindergartens and a government community building accommodating various social welfare facilities and a community hall.
The site is surrounded by green belt to the east and south-east. The thirteen domestic blocks sit in the natural landscape among low-density local villages, with Lung Shan in the south serving as its backdrop. The design takes advantage of the adjoining green and rural environment to create a neighbourhood with a strong sense of community which satisfies the social and physical needs of the residents.
As one of HKHA’s largest PRH and SSF developments, the project provides a total 12,087 flats completed in 2022.
