THE HONG KONG PAVILION, WORLD EXOISITION 2010 SHANGHAI, Shanghai
2010
Based on the winning design of Billy Chan Wai-ching and Ida Sze Ki-shan, Wong & Ouyang developed the design through construction of the Hong Kong Pavilion at the Shanghai Expo 2010.
The theme of the Pavilion is “Hong Kong – Potential Unlimited”. Its three exhibition levels, totaling 800 s.m., represent the different aspects of Hong Kong’s connectivity and creativity.
The top and bottom levels are clad with folded metallic skin representing the dense high-rise buildings in Hong Kong within a tight urban landscape while the middle level is a transparent and mirrored space signifying the unlimited potential of Hong Kong.
The Pavilion incorporates a number of sustainable features: double-skin cladding, vertical water elements, photovoltaic panels, living green roof insulation, and use of recycled products.
