Johnnie Lai first joined Wong & Ouyang in 1982 and has over 39 years of experience in design and management of large scale building developments. His work covers multi-users institutional / healthcare projects, top grade retail / hotel / office complexes, international casino / entertainment projects and prestige residential buildings such as Pacific Place I & II Development, Pacific Place Contemporization in Admiralty, Urban Renewal Project Langham Place in Mongkok, Wynn Macau & Wynn Palace at Macau, CUHK Medical Centre, MiC Community Isolation Facilities in Penny’s Bay and Kai Tak Area, Sheung Shui Slaughterhouse.
Apart from design quality, Johnnie has put efforts in driving for innovation with fire safety solution / engineering approach to meet challenges for his complex projects. Johnnie is familiar with the authorities’ approval system and had served on the Building Department’s Fire Safety Committee and Advisory Committee for Fire Safety (Buildings) Ordinance and Fire Safety (Commercial Premises) Ordinance. Currently he participates on the Technical Committees on Code of Practice for Fire Safety in Buildings / Code of Practice on Wind Effects in Hong Kong. He is also one of the earliest architectural design partitioners applying “Modular Integrated Construction” method for various building types such as hospitals, government offices, quarantine facilities, student hostels and residential buildings.
Johnnie graduated from University of Hong Kong is a HKIA member, a Registered Architect and an Authorized Person.
